Division of Research employees gathered in October for a retreat focused on continuous improvement.

The day included bus tours with views of the Koffman Southern Tier Incubator and University Downtown Center; meetings at the new School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences; a presentation by Dan Mori, then director of business incubation; and remarks by Bahgat Sammakia, vice president for research. It concluded with a vigorous and candid discussion session in which employees offered ideas about how to improve recruitment, retention and orientation of employees, the campus’ evolution, planning for the retirement of key staff members and a desire for more connection among people who work at disparate locations.

Sammakia and his senior staff plan to hold additional division-wide meetings to discuss progress and get additional input from employees.
