Eisch family provides support for chemistry, nursing

Graduate chemical research and the Decker School of Nursing to benefit

John J. Eisch, a Binghamton distinguished professor emeritus of chemistry, pledged to support a new Eisch Grant to Foster Graduate Chemical Research Beyond Expectation. The grant will provide research assistantships for chemistry graduate students, with preference given to students who pursue “bold and unexpected leads in high-risk, high-reward research” or are working with junior faculty who have not yet received external grant support.

Joan Scheuerell Eisch, MS ’82, made her gift, an IRA qualified charitable distribution, to support the Decker School of Nursing. Her gift will be used to furnish and equip a simulation debriefing suite, which will be named after her in recognition of her support. Her gift will also provide resources for geriatric healthcare initiatives and community outreach.
