TEDxBinghamtonUniversity

This year’s TEDxBinghamtonUniversity event was held from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, March 3, in the Osterhout Concert Theater in the Anderson Center. The student directors who planned the event – Brendan Geen, Jessica Jang, Madison Kleppan-Mella, Emma Krempa and Bridget Shanley – selected “Ignite” as the conference theme: igniting provoking conversations, kindling new ideas and fueling an individual’s passion. The speaker lineup included Peter Guttman ‘76, Michele Rigby Assad, Sunil Thankamushy, Komal Dadlani, Andrew Foley, Kate Hagen and student speaker, Jonathan Caputo. Approximately 700 people attended. Exciting aspects enjoyed at this year’s event included exhibitor interactive tabling activities, such as a 3D printing exhibit, as well as the Physics Outreach Program. A new initiative the group incorporated into the TEDx experience this year was the development of the TEDxBinghamtonUniversity Times, a monthly email newsletter that highlights videos, interesting TED talks, as well as a video of a former TEDxBinghamtonUniversity talks.
