Binghamton University Interfaith Council (BUIC) established

The Binghamton University Interfaith Council (BUIC), established at the end of the fall 2018 semester, held its first meeting on Jan. 2, 2019. BUIC is a collaboration of faith groups for the Binghamton University community whose main purpose is to serve as pastoral counselors for students and provide services to faculty and staff. The council provides a venue for dialogue across lines of faith and belief practices and fosters a greater appreciation of the many faith groups represented on the Binghamton University campus. BUIC faith leaders work closely with the Dean of Students office to serve the spiritual needs of students, faculty and staff; to strengthen the faith communities they represent; and to model mutual respect, love of learning and care for the common good. In return, the University offers campus ministers an acknowledged place within the University community, while honoring their relative autonomy as agents of the religious organizations to which they report.
