Employer site visits expand to new cities

The Fleishman Center, Alumni Association and partner career offices work together to coordinate annual student site visits with employers in locations such as New York City and Washington, D.C. At these visits, students experience different industries in-person, engage with professionals, gain insight into various work environments and establish a valuable understanding of a variety of career options, all while expanding their professional network.

In January 2019, 364 students participated in New York City site visits with over 40 employers. In addition to the site visits, the offices hosted Metro Connections Night on Tuesday, Jan. 8, when over 350 students networked with over 115 alumni working in fields including technology, marketing, government, entertainment/arts/fashion and finance. Dan Black ‘94, global recruiting leader at EY, kicked off this year’s Metro Connections Night with a keynote that revealed his expert tips and tricks students could use later that night when networking with alumni.

Employer site visits continued during the March recess, when approximately 50 students spent four days networking in Washington, D.C., and Boston, visiting organizations including Wells Fargo, HubSpot, Sirius XM and the U.S. Department of State. All transportation and lodging costs are paid for by the Alumni Association. The Fleishman Center also plans to expand the site visit program to Silicon Valley in May 2019.
