Student Affairs Assessment and Strategic Initiatives fall 2019

Student engagement platform migrated

Binghamton University’s central hub for student engagement migrated to a new platform this summer. B-Engaged is an online platform where students can join clubs and organizations, find events to attend, connect with departments/offices and communicate with one another. Established in 2013, it was time for a tool that was more user-friendly with updated functionality that better meets the needs of campus organizations and offices. In a partnership between the Student Affairs Assessment and Strategic Initiatives (SAASI) office and the Student Association (SA), the new B-Engaged launched in August with a positive response from the campus. New functions such as email newsletters, multiple ways to track event attendance, flexible forms, roster management and a mobile app are allowing organizations to centralize their work and create more efficiencies. In addition, individual students are finding the platform easy to join clubs, locate engagement opportunities and access their co-curricular transcript. We expect the new system to positively affect campus life, making it easier for students and staff alike to integrate B-Engaged into their groups’ and departments’ operations, which should, in turn, make it easier for students to get more involved on campus.
