Binghamton University to host Let Us Dream Conference

BINGHAMTON, N.Y. — Binghamton University will celebrate work in the community with the Let Us Dream Conference from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday, Oct. 11, at the University Downtown Center. The event is free and open to the public, but registration is required.

The Let Us Dream Conference is hosted to:

  1. Empower people of diverse age groups and backgrounds working in a myriad of community improvement programs aiming at a better tomorrow.
  2. Bring together the concepts and findings of researchers with the real-world experiences of practitioners, providing relevance to and synergizing combined knowledge.
  3. Promote community service and learning among students by introducing diverse interventions.

The conference will include three panel discussions: education, health and social. Keynote speakers include Myra Sabir, associate professor of human development at Binghamton University; and Amelia LoDolce, executive director of Volunteers Improving Neighborhood Environments (VINES), an urban agriculture organization in Binghamton dedicated to making fresh food accessible to all while empowering residents to make positive change in their communities.

The event is hosted by The Institute for Justice and Well-Being, the Centre for Social Action, Let Us Dream, the College of Community and Public Affairs, the Center for Civic Engagement, Stepping Stones and United Health Services.
