Decker inducts students into national nursing honor society
More than 30 Decker College of Nursing and Health Sciences students were inducted into the Zeta Iota Chapter of the Sigma Theta Tau International (STTI) Honor Society of Nursing at a ceremony held Dec. 6 on Binghamton University’s campus. Membership is by invitation to baccalaureate and graduate nursing students who demonstrate excellence in scholarship and to nurse leaders with exceptional achievements in nursing.
The 31 students inducted are all seniors in Decker’s undergraduate nursing programs. They are: Daniel Alfia, Carly Alsofrom, Alena Becker, Vanessa Collins, Sophia D’arienzo, Rebecca Dauth, Brooke Dervish, Alanna Dodrill, Stephanie D’Onofrio, Erica Federico, Shaina Garrett, Juliana Kane, Michael Kern, Alexa LaScala, Talia Lindenberg, Vanessa Lisio, Lia Magnani, Karla Marte, Ciara McNeill, Michelle Morginstin, Erica Olsen, Breanne Payson, Alexis Pekrul, Alexis Poveromo, Sean Putnam, Maria Scorzelli, Paige Segal, Megan Sutton, Sarah Sypa, Jennifer Thrall, Cassandra Vacco and Melanie Yap.
The Binghamton Nursing Honor Society was founded in April 1980. It became a chapter of Sigma Theta Tau International in April 1982. Decker holds STTI induction ceremonies in May and December each year.
STTI is a nonprofit organization that works to advance world health and celebrate nursing excellence in scholarship, leadership and service. Founded in 1922, STTI has more than 135,000 members in more worldwide. Members include practicing nurses, instructors, researchers, policymakers, entrepreneurs and others.
