Forum hosts Dick’s Sporting Goods chief executive

Dick’s Sporting Goods Chairman and CEO Ed Stack returned to his hometown roots — in more ways than one — as guest speaker of the Binghamton University Forum luncheon Oct. 22 at the Holiday Inn Binghamton.

During the event, Stack gave a packed banquet room of about 400 Forum members and guests a behind-the-scenes look at how Dick’s was transformed from the small bait and tackle shop his father opened in Binghamton more than seven decades ago to the multibillion-dollar, national retail chain it is today.

Stack also discussed the content of his first book, a memoir called It’s How We Play the Game, and noted local people and events that made a difference in his life and in the growth of the company.
