Event celebrates donors, features Binghamton’s Nobel Prize winner

About 200 donor recognition society members, alumni and other guests attended the conversation and celebration with 2019 Nobel Prize winner M. Stanley Whittingham Feb. 6 at the Princeton Club of New York in Midtown Manhattan.

Whittingham is a Binghamton University distinguished professor of chemistry and of materials science and a winner of the Nobel Prize in chemistry for pioneering research leading to the development of the lithium-ion battery.

University President Harvey Stenger made remarks at the event. Owen C. Pell ‘80, LLD ‘11, led the discussion with Whittingham in front of a packed room, before the guests moved on to a reception.

Photos from the event are available on the Binghamton University Alumni Association’s Facebook page and at bit.ly/adv_photos. There is also a short video clip from the discussion.
