Over winter break, 745 students attended NYC CONNECT (formerly known as Binghamton in the City), which consisted of employer treks to various organizations and a networking night aimed at connecting current students with successful alumni.

Throughout the week, students attended 48 employer treks that spanned a variety of organizations, including HelloFresh, Bloomberg, Northwell Health, EY and NBC, among others. At most of the employer treks, students were welcomed by Binghamton alumni hosts.

The highlight of the week, and largest event, was networking night, when approximately 100 alumni gathered to connect and share career advice with the 374 students who attended. The night kicked off with a keynote by Armand Khatri ’09, senior partner manager of Financial Services at Pinterest, who shared tips on how to become a powerful networker and land on someone’s radar. Following the keynote, a networking reception with alumni mentors followed at which students were able to make face-to-face connections with alumni.

The CONNECT program is offered on a smaller scale during breaks throughout the year in other cities and regions with a large alumni presence including Boston, Washington, D.C., and Silicon Valley. The Fleishman Center works closely with the Alumni Association as well as career offices across campus to coordinate these opportunities for students to connect with successful alumni. CONNECT epitomizes the University’s value of collaboration and dedication to connecting students to careers and alumni as a path to career success.
