JCPenney Suit Up helps students save on professional attire

The Fleishman Center for Career and Professional Development partnered with JCPenney to offer a Suit Up event in its Oakdale Mall store during the first week of the spring semester. During the private store opening, students and alumni received up to 60% off professional attire. A free shuttle was provided for students living on campus. For events such as the job and internship fairs, business attire is expected, and the Fleishman Center recognizes the financial burden this puts on students. Rather than being discouraged by the mandated attire, Suit Up provides students with an opportunity to buy sharp and

professional attire on a budget. The Fleishman Center strives to give all students every tool necessary to succeed and remove barriers to career success. Several local organizations donated $1,350 to sponsor gift cards for students to use at the event. Over 370 students attended. The Fleishman Center will continue to partner with JCPenney to offer the event in the future and hopes to open the event up to include faculty and staff.
