COVID-19 Crisis Management Team formed

President Harvey Stenger has formed a COVID-19 Crisis Management Team (BUCCMT) to lead the University’s efforts in dealing with the impact of the virus on the campus.

“The Binghamton University COVID-19 Crisis Management Team is a senior-level oversight committee,” Stenger said. “I’ve charged the team with monitoring issues and creating and executing plans with regard to all aspects of COVID-19 as it relates to the continuity of campus operations.”

The team will address the following:

  • Academic continuity
  • Research continuity
  • Business continuity
  • Medical response
  • Student/resident response
  • Communication response
  • Operational continuity (Physical Facilities, Information Technology, Human Resources, Emergency Services)

Committee members can use established working groups — or create new ones — to assist them.

“I’ve asked JoAnn Navarro, vice president for operations, to chair the team,” Stenger said. “She will provide me with daily updates to advise me in making what may be difficult decisions moving forward.”

Any requests from SUNY or outside agencies for information, assistance, supplies, equipment, etc. must be run through this team to assure that any decisions Binghamton University makes are fair and equitable and allow us to continue to sustain our University operations, Stenger said.

The committee has begun daily Zoom meetings, which will continue until further notice.
