A toast to the Class of 2020

Although the vast majority of students had left the Binghamton University campus by the end of March due to COVID-19 concerns, the Alumni Association was able to bring seniors together to continue a popular graduation week tradition.

The Class of 2020 participated in a virtual champagne toast in the form of a video that premiered on Facebook May 14. About 1,800 graduating seniors watched a video including remarks from notable Binghamton University alumni Billy Baldwin ‘85, Sunny Hostin ‘90, Paul Reiser ‘77 and Ruben Santiago-Hudson ‘78. At the conclusion, the seniors lifted their champagne glasses together for a send-off toast.

To meet the seniors’ needs for increased career assistance in a suddenly difficult job market, the Alumni Association and Fleishman Center for Career and Professional Development partnered to offer the Class of 2020 free access to a Grad Career Festival, a four-day intensive online conference. The new graduates will also receive a year of free access to LinkedIn Learning, which offers training courses so participants can acquire job skills and earn digital badges.
