Highlighting global service by alumni

Because of the COVID-19 pandemic, Alumni Global Days of Service were not as planned April 24-26. However, wanting to highlight the efforts of alumni who are active in their communities, and recognizing that the pandemic created a multitude of service opportunities, the Binghamton University Alumni Association put out a call for graduates to submit stories about their volunteerism.

Since the call for volunteer stories occurred in May through email and social media, nearly 300 alumni have completed an online form to share information about what they are doing in their communities. Service has included donating personal protective equipment to hospitals, making face masks, improving information systems to relay test results, creating motivational videos and combating food insecurity. We shared the stories with alumni through the digital newsletter, Alumni Connect, and social media.
