Applications, nominations and charitable gifts are being accepted for the new George Floyd Scholarship for Social Change.

The scholarship will be awarded to historically economically disadvantaged, underrepresented minorities who seek racial justice and endeavor to make a positive impact on the world. Black/African American students are strongly encouraged to apply.

Starting in academic year 2020-21, selected students will receive at least $5,000 per year, for up to three years. Recipients must meet the following scholarship criteria:

  • Full-time (at least 12 hours) undergraduate student in good academic standing at the time of the application. Recipients must maintain full-time status and good academic standing to continue receiving the scholarship each year.
  • Demonstrated activity and/or achievements related to social change, restorative justice or racial equality. Students will provide this information in an essay as part of the scholarship application.
  • Financial need and/or academic merit may be used as secondary criteria, if needed.
