Board makes $3 million investment in strategic University priorities
December 15, 2020
The Binghamton University Foundation board of directors has approved the allocation of $3 million to support faculty hiring in nursing and health sciences, international student recruitment and infrastructure improvements in Johnson City.
- The Foundation’s support will help bridge salary funding needs of faculty expansion in the University’s physical therapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology and Doctor of Nursing Practice programs.
- Support for the University’s international student recruitment initiatives will include funding to send staff to international locations and work with partners in those countries, as well as provide for advertising and communications with students, program development and scholarships.
- In response to the Geography Department Story Map Project in Johnson City and the student survey exploring dimensions of walkability in the area, the Foundation’s support will help create a safe and welcoming infrastructure for students, complete with lighting, green space, additional parking and the potential for a biomanufacturing facility to be located in the neighborhood.
