Donors provide new scholarship, internship and research support for students

Binghamton University students will have access to new scholarship, internship and research support, thanks to the following donors:

  • Lenore M. Goldstein ’90 and Mitchell S. Goldstein ’89 made a commitment to create the Bruce and Elaine Kantor Women’s Pre-Med Scholarship. The donors intend to help underrepresented minorities from metro New York pursue their interest in medicine. In addition, Mitchell Goldstein’s philanthropy will include service on the Binghamton University Foundation board of directors, starting in January.
  • David Vogt ’93 and Theresa C. Vogt pledged to establish the Vogt Family Summer Internship to support students with demonstrated financial need who are applying for unpaid summer internship opportunities. Preference will be given to students in the Transformational Leaders Program.
  • Jean Quataert, Bartle professor and distinguished professor of history at Binghamton, established the Don Quataert Student Support Grant to support undergraduate students in the Middle East and North African Studies Program (MENA). The fund is named in honor of her late husband, who was a distinguished professor of history. The fund will provide an annual achievement award, the Don Quataert Prize in MENA Studies, to the student who has submitted the best research paper, project or thesis in Ottoman history as part of the MENA program. In addition, the fund may be used to support undergraduate MENA students’ research and educational enrichment by providing funding for opportunities such as language training, conference attendance, archival work and professional development.
