Student-athletes achieve 3.43 GPA in fall semester

Continuing to shine amid challenging circumstances, Binghamton student-athletes produced a 3.43 grade-point average for the fall semester. It’s the seventh consecutive semester the group has surpassed a 3.2 GPA and another semester that the student-athletes have risen above the overall university student body in GPA (3.27).

The fall achievement also marks the 17th straight semester that the group surpassed the 3.1 mark.

More than 84 percent of student-athletes (373 of 442 individuals) recorded a 3.0 or higher GPA in the fall and more than half (240, 54%) posted a 3.5 or higher. Ten percent (45 individuals) of the student-athlete population produced a perfect 4.0 GPA for the semester.

The men’s tennis team, under head coach Nick Zieziula, captured the department’s Academic Cup with a remarkable 3.83 grade-point average. It’s the program’s fourth overall Cup and first in nine years. The women’s cross country team (3.58) was runnerup. All 19 teams had a 3.0 or higher team GPA.
