Webinar addresses diversity and inclusion needs in healthcare

The Alumni Association offered “Advancing Diversity, Equity and Inclusion in Academic Medicine,” a Binghamton Learning Network webinar Sept. 15. The featured speaker was Camille Clare ’92 of SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, where she is chair of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology and a professor at the College of Medicine and the School of Public Health. She discussed challenges and facilitators to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion in academic medical centers and healthcare systems.

Clare’s goals were for participants to define and distinguish between diversity, equity and inclusion; describe challenges and facilitators to advancing diversity, equity and inclusion in academic medical centers and healthcare systems; and describe key features for success in how medical schools and academic health centers are organized to sustain diversity, equity and inclusion.
