Parent and Family Weekend brings record numbers

Total number of family units who registered: 1,753
  • Of that number, 175 families registered on-site either Friday or Saturday.
  • Total number of individuals: 6,687
  • In 2019, we had 1,295 family units registered

In addition:

  • Sixty-eight different programs were offered from Friday through Sunday, hosted by student organizations, academic departments, University offices, campus partners and residential communities
  • Fourteen sponsors brought in $17,000 and in-kind support
  • Close to 60 student and staff volunteers assisted with pre-weekend tasks and assisted throughout the weekend.
  • Successful partnerships with campus partners: BUDS/Catering, University Bookstore, Physical Facilities, Transportation and Parking Services, Student Affairs Assessment and Solutions for Engagement and Intercollegiate Athletics
Highlights of the weekend included:
  • Largest turnout at Family Weekend Friday night bonfire with close to 200 people between 4 and 7 p.m.
  • President’s welcome and featured speaker: 558 standing-room-only in Watters Theater
  • Family Weekend Lunch and Baxter’s Spirit Celebration: about 1,367 attendees
  • Comedy Show packed the house in the Anderson Center with 1170 people
  • Men’s soccer match vs Stony Brook: Crowd of 2,605 was the second-largest in the 15-year history of the Bearcats Sports Complex (and we won!)
  • Used the CampusGroups APP for first time for families to download and get information
  • Wonderful comments on social media from parents and families. Lots of happy pictures.
  • Weather was PERFECT!
  • Sunday Fun Run/Walk for charity had 359 participants (double what we had in 2019.)
