Flu vaccine made available to students

Through the generous contribution from a donor of the University, the Decker Student Health Services Center was able to provide an additional 1,000 doses of flu vaccine to students this year. The best way to prevent the flu is to get vaccinated, and Binghamton University has encouraged all members of our community to consider receiving the vaccine this year to support the overall health of the campus.

Numerous flu clinics were held this fall in partnership with the Decker College of Nursing and the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences, whose students and faculty were key in the actual vaccine administration. REACH peer interns from Health Promotion and Prevention Services assisted with promoting this initiative. The vaccine was available to all registered students and was free of charge. All are reminded that other actions, such as covering a cough, using disposable tissues, frequent handwashing with soap and water or alcohol-based cleanser, and disinfecting surfaces and objects that may be contaminated with the virus can also help stop the spread of this illness.
