• Binghamton University and the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences require students to not only be vaccinated for COVID-19, but also to have received a COVID-19 booster vaccination. If students have COVID-like symptoms, they are to notify their preceptors and the Office of Experiential Education, stay home and get a COVID test. If the test is negative, they may return to their rotation site. If the COVID test is positive, they are to remain in quarantine for five days before returning to their rotation. As their preceptor, you should determine if the student is well enough to complete assignments at home and assign work as appropriate so the student can stay on track with the established learning goals for the experience. They may also participate remotely if your practice site has this option available to them during their quarantine. If you have stricter requirements after a positive COVID test, the student is responsible for following the site guidelines for return to the rotation.

• We are in the process of assigning APPE rotations to our P3 students for APPE Year 2022-2023. Thank you so much for providing your availability! We are still accepting availability for those rotations by inputting them directly into CORE-ELMS, or you contact our office at oee@binghamton.edu. We are particularly in need of institutional and general medicine rotations!

• The P1 and P2 students are looking forward to their summer IPPEs, community and institutional, respectively. These introductory rotations are completed in blocks of two weeks and students are expected to spend 40 hours/week at the practice site. We are now accepting availability. You may enter them into CORE-ELMS yourself or contact our office at orr@binghamton.edu and we will handle that for you. We have added blocks this year for a total of five rotations throughout the summer to better fit your needs and to increase the offerings for our students. We especially need IPPE institutional preceptors! Here are the available blocks:

a. May 30–June 10 (If you aren’t working on Memorial Day, the student may start Tuesday, May 31.)

b. June 13–June 24

c. June 27–July 8 (Students may take off July 4.)

d. July 11–July 22

e. July 25–Aug. 5
