A new dean takes the helm
Though it’s summer when many take the time to vacation, we remain busy at the School of Pharmacy and Pharmaceutical Sciences (SOPPS) as we prepare for a new cohort of Doctor of Pharmacy students — and our first Master of Science and PhD in Pharmaceutical Sciences students — to join us in August.
It is amazing to think that our school has existed for only a few years, but as we are about to enter our sixth academic year, we are poised for additional success at many levels:
- More than 70% of our P4 students who applied for residencies were matched.
- We opened our Clinical Education Center at Northwell Health’s Vivo Health Pharmacy.
- We continue to solidify our partnerships in the healthcare community locally and across the state.
- Our faculty are extending the knowledge base of pharmacy practice, health outcomes and pharmaceutical sciences — even as they prepare our students to enter the discipline of pharmacy.
And there is much more to come!
It is an exciting time to be at SOPPS and I am grateful to be leading the school as it continues its upward trajectory. Please enjoy reading about some of the accomplished people we have at SOPPS — and about their recent accomplishments — in this newsletter.
Sincerely,
Kanneboyina Nagaraju
Dean
