Hundreds of alumni, donors and other Binghamton University supporters flocked to campus April 9 for Launch Day, the public kickoff of the EXCELERATE campaign for Binghamton.

At Launch Day, Foundation board Chair Owen Pell ’80, LLD ’11, and campaign committee Chair Howard D. Unger ’82, LHD ’19, announced the campaign’s $220 million goal. Inspired by the event, alumni such as Karen Fuhrman ’86 and Michael Kerner ’86 significantly expanded their commitment to support Harpur College faculty. As of June, donors have generously contributed approximately $153 million toward the campaign, or 70% of goal.

EXCELERATE will create opportunities for students and faculty and keep Binghamton on its rapid rise. Campaign priorities are to:

  • spark discovery for a changing world
  • ensure an exceptional education for every student
  • make the exceptional accessible
