A Binghamton University Forum event about new battery technology development and its impact in the region generated significant interest from members, who gained insights on how the University is sharing its expertise to advance the initiative.

The Forum’s special speaker series program “Innovation, Manufacturing, Workforce Development: Why Batteries? Why New York? Why Now?” on Sept. 20 at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel Binghamton drew about 85 people — the highest attendance for a Forum speaker series program since the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The event featured guest speakers University President Harvey Stenger and Distinguished Professor and Nobel Laureate M. Stanley Whittingham, one of the leaders of a University-led initiative that recently won $113.7 million to bolster domestic battery manufacturing.

The Forum helps connect the surrounding community with the University, strengthening the bond between the two with enriching events such as the speaker series. Learn more about the Forum and its upcoming events: binghamton.edu/forum.
