Binghamton University’s Decker College of Nursing and Health Sciences welcomed 25 faculty and staff over the past several months as the college continues to expand to help address the regional, national and global need for more providers across healthcare disciplines.

Decker College is composed of three schools:

  • Decker School of Nursing, housing the Division of Nursing
  • School of Applied Health Sciences, housing the Division of Public Health and Division of Health and Wellness Studies
  • School of Rehabilitation Sciences, housing the Division of Occupational Therapy, Division of Physical Therapy and Division of Speech and Language Pathology

“This accomplished group of practitioners, researchers, scholars and professionals join us from a wide range of institutions and experiences, and their knowledge will be invaluable as we continue developing new programs in the rehabilitation and health sciences, while maintaining our high-quality programs in nursing, public health, and health and wellness studies,” said Mario R. Ortiz, dean and professor of nursing.

In the fall 2022 semester, Decker College launched its first program in the Division of Occupational Therapy, a 100% online post-professional doctor of occupational therapy (OTD) program, the first of its kind in the State University of New York system. Still in development are programs leading to a doctor of physical therapy degree, entry-level doctor of occupational therapy degree, and a master’s degree in speech and language pathology.
