Binghamton University’s most ambitious campaign ever invests in the people and priorities that make Binghamton a nurturing home to excellence, leadership and innovation. The EXCELERATE campaign goal is to raise at least $220 million

By June 30, nearly 29,000 alumni, parents and friends have responded, giving $156.7 million for the following initiatives:

* $17.8 million to invest in people who make discoveries that matter in a changing world. Thanks to a new named professorship, the George J. Klir Professor in Systems Science, Luis Rocha, PhD ’97, had a chance for a meaningful homecoming. The late Klir was a co-advisor for Rocha’s doctoral dissertation. Rocha, now an accomplished scholar with national and international recognition, leads Binghamton’s Complex Adaptive Systems and Computational Intelligence (CASCI) lab. He also is director of the Center for Social and Biomedical Complexity, between Binghamton and Indiana University Bloomington. With an exceptional level of research activity, Rocha adds depth to the successful and growing systems science program, and brings additional breadth in interdisciplinary applications such as computational cognitive systems and informatics.

* $106.1 million to provide an exceptional education for every student. As just one example, four Binghamton undergraduate students were able to take on emotional, challenging and rewarding internships with the Refugee Rights Hub, based in the Helena Kennedy Centre for International Justice at Sheffield Hallam University in England. The hub was active this year, supporting an influx of refugees from Ukraine into the United Kingdom.

* $21.9 million to make an exceptional education accessible for determined and talented students. Park ranger was just one job Katie Kaufman, who expects to graduate in 2025, has had during her time as a nursing student. But now, the Nelson S. and Leona C. Fiske Decker College of Nursing Scholarship is covering the total cost of her education, giving her financial freedom to stay focused on a demanding training and learning program.

*$10.9 million for The Binghamton Fund, ensuring that the University can respond to meet the needs of the people on campus today.

We’re at 71% of our goal!
