Celebrating Women’s Athletics Luncheon a success

The Binghamton Bearcats Athletic Association (BBAA) hosted its 18th Annual Celebrating Women’s Athletics Luncheon presented by M&T Bank Monday afternoon and the special event drew more than 600 spectators to the Events Center.

Seventeen-time LPGA tour winner and acclaimed golf broadcaster Dottie Pepper was the keynote speaker. A native of Saratoga Springs, Pepper shared her experience as a player and television announcer.

Student-Athletes post 3.37 fall semester GPA

Binghamton student-athletes continued their academic prowess with a 3.37 grade-point average for the fall semester. It’s the 11th consecutive semester the group has surpassed a 3.2 GPA and sixth straight semester above a 3.3. The fall achievement also marks the 21st straight semester that the group surpassed the 3.1 mark. The fall success also continued the department’s trend of outpacing the general student population on campus, which posted a 3.22 GPA.

All 19 sports achieved a 3.1 or higher team GPA and 13 teams carried a team GPA above 3.3.

Binghamton Athletics celebrates Black History Month

Every February, Binghamton athletics joins with the rest of the country to celebrate Black History Month and honor the achievements and contributions of past and present Binghamton African-American student-athletes, coaches, staff and administrators.

We also reflect on the advancements toward racial equality and the continued fight for racial justice. The NCAA has a commitment to acknowledge and celebrate all student-athletes. As such, we honor the contributions made by generations of Black and African American athletes on and off the field.

Student-Athlete 4.0 Club honored

Each semester, the Binghamton Athletic Department holds a breakfast for its student-athletes who attained a perfect 4.0 GPA during the previous semester. There were 48 student-athletes who earned a 4.0 GPA during the Fall 2022 semester.

Those student-athletes were able to take a break and be honored for their hard work and dedication to their education on Wednesday morning in the TAU Clubroom of the Events Center. Binghamton University President Harvey Stenger and Athletic Director Eugene Marshall Jr. were on hand to honor them.

Bearcats Golf Classic set for June 1

The Binghamton Bearcats Athletic Association (BBAA) will host its 33rd Annual Matthews Auto Bearcats Golf Classic on Thursday, June 1st at The Links at Hiawatha Landing. The goal of the yearly event is to raise money for the Binghamton University Athletics General Scholarship Fund.

During the AM session, there will be a Captain and Crew Format. The PM session will be a Texas Scramble-2 best ball format.
