Binghamton University to host annual Day at the Mall

BINGHAMTON, NY—Binghamton University is once again inviting the community to come learn more about the campus and what it has to offer from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25, in the Center Court of the Oakdale Mall in Johnson City.

Every year for the last 6 years, the University has brought more than 100 students, faculty and staff to the mall to help highlight current research activities, academic offerings and admissions information. The event showcases student and faculty performances, as well as hands-on science and arts activities for children. Drawings for a variety of prizes will be held throughout the afternoon and participants can also take a chance on the Bearcat “Spin to Win” wheel.

“This event is a great opportunity for our University and our community to come together and learn, but in a fun and entertaining way,” said Binghamton University President Harvey Stenger. “We have so many talented students, staff and faculty members, and many of them will put their talents on display on Saturday. They will also provide wonderful activities for people of all ages.”

Some of the displays and activities available that day will include: DNA extraction from fruit, numerous arts and crafts offerings for children, a 3D printing demonstration, Beijing Opera face painting and interactive examples of how physics can be fun for all ages.

Performers lined up for the day include the Confucius Institute of Chinese Opera, Nukporfe African Dance and Drumming Ensemble, the Binghamton Bearcat Dance Team, the Binghamton Vibrations a cappella group and much more.

The event is free and open to the public. For more information, email Darcy Fauci at dfauci@binghamton.edu or call 607-777-3865.
