Forum gala attracts more than 100 guests

The Binghamton University Forum’s 45th annual gala attracted attendance not seen at a Forum event since before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

About 150 people attended the event, June 10 at the Mountainview College Appalachian Collegiate Center on campus. That’s nearly the number of people who came to the 2019 gala, which had approximately 180 people in attendance.

Entertainment at this year’s event was provided by the Dena DeRose Trio, made up of Dena DeRose, Martin Wind and Matt Wilson. DeRose, from the Binghamton area, said Albert P. Hamme ’69, University professor emeritus of music, inspired her to pursue her career in jazz.

DeRose is tenured as professor of jazz voice at the Jazz Institute of The University of Music and Performing Arts in Graz, Austria. She leads clinics and workshops at prestigious schools and festivals such as the Stanford Jazz Workshop, the Dave Brubeck Institute and The Jazz School in Berkeley, Calif.

More information about the Forum and the Dena DeRose Trio is available online.
