Andrea Falcone is new dean of Libraries

Andrea Falcone is the new dean of the Libraries and began in the position in July 2023.

Falcone comes to Binghamton University after four years as dean of the W. Frank Steely Library at Northern Kentucky University. While at Northern Kentucky, she was responsible for managing a $6.2 million budget, and oversight of the physical library space, research collections and services. She has focused on developing strategic initiatives to support student success, research services, collections and educational technology. Falcone oversaw the launch of a new website, instituted new workflow and budgeting processes, and founded new programs such as the Undergraduate Library Fellowships for Students of Color and the Textbook Affordability Program.

Falcone holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Mansfield University, a master’s in English from the University of Toledo and a Master of Library Sciences from Indiana University.

Falcone says she has enjoyed getting to know the intricacies of campus and sees the potential in furthering the mission of the Libraries and the University.

“I am impressed by the talented personnel within the Libraries, the efforts to evolve the library both physically and virtually, and the opportunities to partner with other campus units,” Falcone says. “The Libraries are well positioned to think bigger and bolder in how they serve the teaching and research mission of the institution, and I’m excited to chart that path together.”
