Binghamton Director of Athletics Patrick Elliott has been chosen as a recipient of the Under Armour Athletics Director of the Year, the National Association of Collegiate Directors of Athletics (NACDA) announced on March 2. Elliott is one of 12 Division I ADs across the country to be recognized.

In all, the award spans seven divisions - the three Division I levels (FBS, FCS and I-AAA), Divisions II and III, NAIA and Junior College. Elliott was one of four acknowledged for their leadership at I-AAA (non-football) institutions. The 28 winners will be recognized during the James J. Corbett Awards Luncheon on June 13 at NACDA’s 52nd Annual Convention in Orlando, Fla.

In the midst of his fifth full year at Binghamton, Elliott has orchestrated pivotal growth across numerous facets: enhanced facilities, increased fundraising, expanded scope of student-athlete services, record-setting academic achievement, increased exposure through digital content and a groundswell of school spirit centered around Binghamton’s 21 sports teams.

Last year, Binghamton was the only school in the America East to finish in the top-three in both primary metrics of success - the Academic Cup and the Commissioner’s Cup. Under Elliott’s charge, Binghamton University student-athletes posted a 3.21 grade-point average to tie for second in the conference. On the field, meanwhile, the Bearcats were third in overall achievement, celebrating the true essence of student-athlete success.

During his tenure at Binghamton, athletics has produced eight conference championship teams, eight individual All-Americans and 21 NCAA qualifiers.

Elliott has served in leadership roles within the America East and the NCAA. In 2012, he was selected to serve as a member of the NCAA Division I Amateurism Cabinet and also began a leadership role with the America East, where he currently serves as chair of the Executive Committee.
