Spring Job and Internship Fair
11 a.m. – 3:30 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 22 | Mandela Room/Old Union Hall (UU) | Register
Representatives from for-profit, government, and non-profit organizations will be on campus to speak with students about full-time employment, internship and summer opportunities across a wide range of industries.
Fairs are open to students of all majors and attending any fair provides students with opportunities to connect one-on-one with recruiters to learn about various career opportunities.
Benefits of attending a Job and Internship Fair:
- Meet one-on-one with employers. Students can speak with recruiters on campus to learn about job and internship opportunities.
Student tip: Research participating organizations in advance. Having background nformation on employers means students can ask specific questions about organizations and demonstrate a genuine interest in them. Employers frequently mention that they are most impressed by students who ask well-researched questions.
- Discover new career opportunities. If a student is still exploring career options, our fairs are an excellent opportunity to learn more about different industries and career paths. Students will get personalized recommendations for which employers to connect with, based on their career cluster and selected career interests.
Student tip: Update hireBING profiles and career cluster subscription statuses now in addition to resumes or CVs.
- Expand your network. The job fairs will feature representatives from more than 100 different companies. Students can take advantage of these opportunities to make a positive first impression with recruiters and add to their professional network, even if they are not currently searching for job opportunities.
Student tip: Make an appointment with a career center staff member for advice on how to network effectively. Job and internship fairs aren’t just for juniors and seniors, or students from specific majors; all students are encouraged to participate in these events early and often to explore options and begin working toward their own career success! Encourage your student to not only attend, but also prepare by following our resources and tips for information on topics such as:
- Writing a top quality resume
- Crafting a great 30-second commercial
- Researching registered organizations
If your student needs something to wear for the Job and Internship Fair, encourage them to attend the JCPenney Suit-Up event. The Fleishman Career Center has partnered with JCPenney to offer students an additional 30% off work attire, which can allow students to purchase clothing for the fair at a significant discount. Encourage your student to attend from 6–9 p.m. on Sunday, Feb. 18 at the JCPenney in the Oakdale Commons. If your student has questions about attending or preparing for the fair, encourage them to visit the Fleishman Career Center in UU-133 during walk-in hours Monday–Friday from noon–4 p.m., schedule an appointment with a career consultant in hireBING, or email careers@binghamton.edu.
