Binghamton University to host Alzheimer’s awareness event
BINGHAMTON, NY – The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America at Binghamton University (AFA on Campus) will host Raise Your Voice For Care, an event to raise awareness of Alzheimer’s disease, from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. Friday, March 31, in the Mandela Room in the University Union, on campus. This event is free and open to the public; refreshments will be served.
Raise Your Voice For Care consists of five different sessions. The first hour, titled “Alzheimer’s Disease and You,” will provide students with information about the disease and patient care. The next hour will be a career panel open for professionals in different fields to talk and answer questions from students and community members about their work and opportunities for the future. In the third session, there will be a faculty mixer in which students can directly interact with members of Binghamton’s faculty.
Afterwards, there will be an hour of free and confidential memory screenings. To conclude the event, there will be an Alzheimer’s-themed trivia game with giveaways and prizes.
Raise Your Voice For Care is hosted in conjunction with AFA On Campus’ parent organization, the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, as a part of its college tour series. The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America, based in New York, is a non-profit organization that unites more than 2,600 member organizations nationwide in the goal of providing optimal care and services to individuals living with dementia, and to their caregivers and families.
