Message from Interim Director of Experiential Education
Interim Director of Experiential Education Marissa Langett gives updates, celebrates achievements
Dear Preceptors and Friends,
As we near the end of the spring semester, I’m thrilled to celebrate a season of outstanding achievements within our Experiential Education team. We’re gearing up to graduate our fifth PharmD cohort and are proudly celebrating the top match rate for PGY1 placements in NYS—with Phase 1 of “Match Day” showing a 79.4% success rate for our students. This outstanding performance is a clear testament to your exceptional guidance and mentorship.
In addition to these achievements, we’re excited to share that our office is growing. We now have a new Experiential Liaison, Katie Sasina, CPhT, assisting with site and student onboarding. The Executive Director position and the Coordinator position have just been posted, with links to both available below. These strategic additions are designed to further strengthen our support network and enhance our program’s impact.
Having been a part of OEE for the past four years, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing every cohort’s journey and graduation while holding multiple roles within our office. These experiences have deepened my appreciation for all that our preceptors do, and I am truly honored to serve as the Interim Director of Experiential Education. As our office continues to grow, I am excited to be in this role and look forward to strengthening our support for both students and preceptors.
We are always looking for new members to join our Experiential Education Ad-Hoc Committee! This collaborative group plays a crucial role in shaping the design of our rotation experiences to align with pharmacy best practices and SOPPS curricular goals. The committee is made up of OEE team members, and both faculty and non-faculty preceptors, bringing together diverse perspectives to continuously enhance our experiential learning programs. Your insights and expertise are invaluable, and we encourage you to get involved!
Your commitment to mentoring and guiding our students is what makes our experiential education program thrive. As we look ahead, we are excited to continue growing, improving, and collaborating with you to provide meaningful learning experiences for our students.
Thank you for your dedication to our learners, our school, and the profession. We appreciate all that you do and look forward to the future ahead!
Best,
Marissa
