Binghamton University Alpha Epsilon Pi sponsoring Rock-A-Thon fundraiser

BINGHAMTON, NY —The Beta Nu Chapter of the Alpha Epsilon Pi (AEPi) Fraternity at Binghamton University will hold its third annual fundraiser for the American Cancer Society and Israel Children’s Cancer Foundation from 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 25 through 6 p.m. Thursday, April 27, in front of the University Union, on campus.

“Rock-A-Thon” is a nationally recognized event that is held by many AEPi chapters to raise funds for chosen charities. The event will feature Jordan Scheier, a brother of the AEPi chapter, who will sit in a rocking chair for 48 hours straight, as the group aims to raise over $15,000. In addition, a cancer survivor will make special guest appearances at the opening ceremony at 6 p.m. Tuesday, April 25, where they will speak about their journey.

“Everyone knows someone affected by cancer. It was my freshman year when I learned of my friend’s personal battle with cancer,” said Binghamton senior Jordan Scheier. “During our first Rock-A-Thon event two years ago, it was inspiring to see the work my friend was putting into it to make it successful. His energy was contagious and I knew how much this event meant to him. That inspired me to keep pushing and go the extra mile to raise that extra dollar. Now two years later, I have a great opportunity to make an impact on something that really matters. I hope that Rock-A-Thon raises awareness and funds for cancer research, but I also hope that it can be a source of inspiration for those with cancer to keep fighting or, in this case, ‘keep rocking.’”
