Baseball bests Maine again

VESTAL, N.Y. - Freshman shortstop Greg Satriale hit a tiebreaking RBI triple in the bottom of the seventh inning and two Binghamton pitchers held Maine to four hits as Binghamton (20-7, 9-2 America East) completed a three-game sweep with a 3-2 win Sunday afternoon at the Baseball Complex.

The Bearcats reached the 20-win mark the fastest in the program’s 16-year Division I history. Maine fell to 14-20, 3-6 in conference play.

Tied, 2-2, and with one out in the seventh, junior designated hitter Pat Britt singled and Satriale followed with his triple to score pinch runner Anthony Meduri .

Junior pitcher Jacob Wloczewski (W, 3-1) went seven innings and scattered four hits and one earned run. Junior closer Dylan Stock picked up his fifth save as the pitching staff lowered the team’s season earned run average to 2.99.

Senior right fielder Eddie Posavec (2-for-3, 2 runs) scored on a RBI double by sophomore third baseman Justin Yurchak (2-for-4, 2 RBI) for Binghamton’s first run in the bottom of the first. Posavec singled, went to second on an outfield error and scored on a Yurchak RBI single for the second Bearcat run in the sixth.

Senior first baseman Brendan Skidmore went 2-for-4.

The Bearcats host Cornell on Tuesday. It is the first-ever night game in program history with a 6:30 p.m start.
