Softball Repeats as AE Regular Season Champs

VESTAL, N.Y. – Binghamton University (21-23, 11-4 AE) repeated as the America East regular-season softball championship despite dropping a 2-1, 4-1 doubleheader at Stony Brook (16-27, 9-7 AE) in the final regular-season games on May 6. The Bearcats are the No. 1 seed in the conference tournament this week.

This is the third time in five years that Binghamton will host the America East Tournament. The Bearcats won the tournament title in 2013 and advanced to the NCAA Tournament.

As the No. 1 seed, Binghamton will receive a first-round bye in the America East Tournament and will face the winner of the first-round game between No. 4 Albany and No. 5 UMBC on May 11 at 11 a.m.

Maine, as the No. 2 seed, also earned a first-round bye. The Black Bears will meet the winner of Wednesday’s first-round game between No. 3 Stony Brook and No, 6 Hartford on May 11 at 1:30.
