The Binghamton University School of Management (SOM) has been ranked No. 1 in New York state among the nation’s best fully public business schools, while also placing among the top 10 schools in the Northeast.

Of the 110 schools ranked by Poets & Quants’ 2026 Best Undergraduate Business Schools, SOM also jumped four spots in the overall ranking, placing within the top 30 business programs among private and public institutions. Poets & Quants, a leading publication for business education news, developed its annual rankings through alumni survey data from the undergraduate class of 2023.

Each year, the survey asks graduates to rank their business school based on admission standards, employment outcomes, and academic experience. This year included more schools than the 104 that participated in the 2025 ranking.

“While rankings are just one measure of success, our recognition by Poets & Quants is validation of the exceptional talent within our student body, faculty, and staff,” SOM Dean Shelley Dionne said. “Beyond the numbers, this honor highlights the real-world impact of a School of Management degree and the incredible return on investment we provide for our graduates.”

Since the Class of 2023 graduated, SOM has been evolving its curriculum to include more mentorship opportunities from day one of the program. Alumni from some of the world’s most successful companies have contributed to this by increasing their levels of engagement.

From regular alumni classroom visits to networking opportunities that stress the importance of developing soft skills that pave the way for internships or new career pathways after graduation, students are becoming even more prepared to meet the needs of an evolving business world.

These initiatives and more have already produced powerful results for the undergraduate Class of 2025:

  • 100% job placement three months post-graduation for entrepreneurship, leadership and consulting, marketing, and quantitative finance students
  • 98% job placement for accounting students
  • 94% of SOM Class of 2025 graduates received a full-time job offer for continued education

Consistently ranked by Poets & Quants as one of the nation’s top public business schools, the Binghamton School of Management has also enhanced the student experience over the past year. Student-led initiatives — case competitions, career panels, peer-to-peer mentorship, skill development bootcamps, and more — continue to launch SOM graduates into top-tier companies worldwide.
