Binghamton University, P.E.S. College of Engineering sign memorandum of agreement

Leaders from Binghamton University and the People’s Education Society (P.E.S.) College of Engineering in Mandya, India, signed a memorandum of agreement on Wednesday, May 24, 2017.

With the agreement, the two institutions will “foster advancement in teaching, research, academic collaboration and cultural understanding, and create avenues for enhancing learner experience at both entities, as well as strengthen both entities by finding ways of combining their complementary resources and strengths.”

President Harvey Stenger, Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Donald Nieman and Executive Vice Provost for International Initiatives and Dean of the Thomas J. Watson School of Engineering and Applied Science Krishnaswami “Hari” Srihari all signed the document on Binghamton University’s behalf. Principal V. Sridhar and Vice Principal H. V. Ravindra represented the P.E.S. College of Engineering.

“Agreements like these bring together great minds around the world and promote a free exchange of academic excellence,” Srihari said. “We are incredibly excited to work with our colleagues from P.E.S. College of Engineering on all sorts of projects.”

The P.E.S. College of Engineering was established in 1962. It educates over 3,500 students a year and has 13 departments, including:

  • automobile engineering
  • civil engineering
  • mechanical engineering
  • computer science and engineering
  • electronics and communication engineering
  • electrical and electronics engineering
  • industrial and production engineering
  • Information Science and Engineering
  • master of computer applications
  • master of business administration
  • mathematics
  • physics
  • chemistry

Established in 1946, Binghamton University has almost 17,000 students spread across seven schools and colleges, including the Watson School. The Watson School was founded in 1983 and has departments of biomedical engineering, computer science, electrical and computer engineering, mechanical engineering, and systems science and industrial engineering.
