14th Binghamton Symposium on Health Care Management to address Affordable Care Act, opioid addiction

BINGHAMTON, NY – The Affordable Care Act will be discussed at the 14th annual Binghamton Symposium on Health Care Management and Policy, taking place from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Friday, Nov. 10, in room 1011 of the Center of Excellence, in the Innovation Technologies Complex, 85 Murray Hill Road, Vestal. This event is open to the public.

This year’s symposium theme is “Affordable Care Act: Retrospect and Future of US Healthcare.” A number of distinguished guests will discuss the future of Obamacare in the United States, and what that future holds for healthcare in New York State. There will be eight sessions (including a luncheon) involving health care professionals, hospital administrators, insurance company executives, public officials, representatives from non-profit organizations and private citizens.

Opioid addiction and addiction treatment will be another prominent realm of today’s healthcare landscape that will be featured, as a number of officials will discuss different treatment options and ideas, as well as the cost of addiction treatment. There will also be a session on health care for senior citizens and children, as well as a session on private healthcare insurance and information systems.

Registration is $50, and includes lunch. All participants must register by emailing Manas Chatterji at mchatter@binghamton.edu. Registration is only $20 for Binghamton University faculty, staff and graduate students, and includes lunch. It is also possible to register the day of the event, starting at 8:30 a.m. Those who need lunch must register before November 6.

This event is sponsored by the Binghamton University School of Management in cooperation with the Nelson A. Rockefeller Institute of Government at SUNY, United Hospital Fund at NYC, Broome County Medical Society, Broome County Health Department, and a number of area hospitals.
