Binghamton University’s College of Community and Public Affairs: Home to one of Worst Cooks in America
How bad can she be?
Hazell McKenzie has a lot on her plate. In addition to her studies as a graduate student in social work at the College of Community and Public Affairs, she is the mother of two and now, one of 16 “culinary misfit” contestants on Season 12 of America’s Worst Cooks, airing at 9 p.m. Sundays on the Food Network.
McKenzie, whose hometown is Brooklyn, N.Y., currently relies on her sister for her families’ cooking needs. In her Food Network introduction, McKenzie shares, “I get frustrated with cooking. It’s just too many things that go into one dish. It overwhelms me.”
Whatever this experience ultimately brings for her cooking, all signs indicate a bright future academically and in her chosen career. According to Miesha Marzell, assistant professor of social work, McKenzie is well recognized as “an awesome student who is committed to improving the lives of young people who have experienced trauma.”
