Social events are a staple of the PwC Scholars program, and the group has enjoyed a variety of activities this school year, with more to look forward to in spring.

The fall semester started off with a big splash with the group’s first whitewater rafting social. About 40 people met at Whitewater Challengers for a trip along the Lehigh River in Pennsylvania. The scholars hope to make this an annual “welcome back” event to start the academic year.

The group also held its first-ever Apache Relay-themed kickoff during its first Town Hall meeting of the fall semester. The event, which involved a number of fun competitions, took place on the East Gym fields. The group also held its largest apple-picking social to date at Russell Farms in Brackney, Pa., with over 90 current and former PwC Scholars in attendance.

Other fall semester events included grilling hotdogs and hamburgers, and throwing around a football, while tailgating at Homecoming. The group wrapped up the semester with a holiday-themed party, with plenty of cookies and a gingerbread house design contest.

The group is now looking to continue the momentum into spring. More than 20 scholars will learn how to ski at this year’s ski trip, and the annual roller skating event is scheduled for February 20. The group will be holding its year-end banquet on April 19, on the eve of this year’s community service day. PwC Scholars alumni are welcome at any of the group’s events, including a reunion that will be held in NYC this summer.
