Brightspace Help

Binghamton University uses Brightspace for our Learning Management System. If you encounter issues using Brightspace, or have questions about Brightspace, you can contact Brightspace Support 24/7 under the Help menu in Brightspace. 


Binghamton University Computer Account 

Students are assigned a Binghamton University (BU) computer account automatically when they apply to Binghamton University. Your BU computer account is used to access University applications such as myBinghamton, Brightspace, BU Brain, Bmail and more. 

To claim your account, reset your password or set up 2 Factor Authentication (2FA) visit:

Information Technology Services advises people to never send any passwords via an email message for any reason. You should change your passwords often and follow safe computing guidelines when creating new passwords.

Email (Bmail) Account

Each student is issued a email account (commonly called a Bmail account) when the student accepts admission and pays the deposit (or the deposit is waived). The BU computer account username is used as the first part of your email address (for example,

ITS has partnered with Google to provide users with robust email service as well as many collaborative and productivity focused applications known as Google Workspace for Education. Some of these applications include: Google Calendars, Drive, Sites and Groups. 

Student Computer Hardware

As an online student, it is important that you have a reliable computer and internet connection for your studies. We strongly recommend dedicating a computer to your online studies so you do not have to worry about someone else using it and infecting it or breaking it.
