SP1.2: Establish a New College or School in the Life Sciences

This project to establish a school of pharmacy has met its goals according to an aggressive timetable. Working with a consultant, we drafted and submitted the Letter of Intent to SUNY in September 2013 and subsequently rebutted objections raised by the University at Buffalo and Upstate Medical University. We expect to receive a green light to develop a full proposal in December 2013. The budget, timetable and planning are in place to create the school of pharmacy. A full proposal will be drafted in January 2014, reviewed by an external consultant and submitted to SUNY in March 2014. Application for pre-candidacy for accreditation will be submitted within a year, as a dean and faculty are hired and curriculum design is completed.

Goals advanced under this project:

  1. Become a Nationally Recognized University for Outstanding Doctoral Education
  2. Increase Research, Scholarship, and Creative Activities Profile to that of a Premier Public University
  3. Enrich Collaborative Culture for Research, Scholarship and Creative Production
  4. Increase the Transformational Impact of the University’s Research, Scholarship, Creative Activities and Doctoral Education on Society
