Andrew Watkins named new vice president of advancement

Andrew M. Watkins will join Binghamton University July 16 as vice president for advancement and executive director of the Binghamton University Foundation. He will provide leadership, vision and management of the University’s development and alumni engagement initiatives.

He has worked in the field of advancement for more than 20 years, most recently as executive director of constituency programs at Michigan State University. In this role, he oversaw 11 fundraising units, focused primarily on arts, culture and humanities – eight of which achieved their fundraising goals in Michigan State’s $1.5 billion campaign. Prior to Michigan State, Watkins was the assistant dean of the College of Business at Florida State University, where he oversaw the establishment of a $100 million campaign effort.

“I’m honored to be coming to Binghamton and partnering with the many dedicated people who are committed to the University,” Watkins said. “I look forward to working with alumni, friends and stakeholders to ensure that Binghamton has what it needs to realize its aspirations.”
