Background

Dr. Jant’s research interests include the cognitive and social foundations of young children’s learning and remembering.Recent work focuses on how parent-child interactions during hands-on engagement with objects can facilitate what children learn and remember about those experiences.Jant’s lab is currently exploring growth in children’s cognition from early childhood across the transition to elementary school in underserved populations. This work is also focused on the ways in which early formal and informal educational settings contribute to the development of the fundamental cognitive and STEM skills children need to be successful in school.
