The STEAM Room Makerspace

What is the STEAM Room? It's a makerspace located in Appalachian G02 where any Binghamton student can come to learn, explore and create using tools and materials provided for textiles, CAD, music, artistry, jewelry, design, electronics and robotics.

What can I make?

The STEAM Room is organized into several creation stations but open to invite collaboration and experimentation. Create a robot, art journal, symphony, pillow or necklace. Design a new product, or poster and print it out in 3D or color.

Glowforge Laser Printer

We have a Glowforge laser cutter/engraver! It uses a beam of light the width of a human hair to cut, engrave and shape designs on wood, leather, acrylic, fabric, cardboard and more. You can use designs we have on file or load your own. Want to know how it works? Check out our instructional video:

Do I need an appointment?

No, the tools, computers and materials are available on a first come-first serve basis.

Is it free?

YES! All materials and workshops are free to any Binghamton University student.

How do I get in?

The STEAM Room requires Binghamton University ID Card access. If you want to use the room, review the policies and guidelines and submit the form here.
