Request to Cancel Housing

Returning students who are leaving the University or studying abroad for the fall 2019 semester and need to cancel their 2019–2020 housing can submit a cancellation to the area office where they area signed up to live for 2019–2020 using the links below. Students who cancel housing will be billed a $200 cancellation charge regardless of the reason for cancellation. Students cancelling housing due to a study abroad program will not be charged the $200 cancellation charge if they submit documentation of their enrollment in a study abroad program.

Students who will be enrolled at Binghamton University for the fall 2019 semester are not eligible to cancel housing as we are now past the March 29 cancellation deadline. Cancellation requests from enrolled students will be denied.

Cancellation requests should be submitted to the area office of the area you are signed up to live in for 2019–2020 using the links below:

New freshman are required to live on campus. Exceptions are granted for freshmen who are residents of Broome, Tioga or southern Chenango County, are 21 years of age or married. Students seeking an exception should email reslife@binghamton.edu.

New freshman who have selected a room and have decided not to attend Binghamton University should email reslife@binghamton.edu to cancel housing and notify the Admissions Office at admit@binghamton.edu.

Transfer students have 14 days from the day they select their room or receive a housing assignment to cancel their housing up until the published residence hall opening date for the semester. Requests to cancel after the deadline will be denied and the student will be required to pay the entire room charge for the fall and spring semesters if they attend Binghamton University. Students who decide not to attend Binghamton University should email reslife@binghamton.edu to cancel housing and notify the Admissions Office at admit@binghamton.edu.
